Fun Family Activities

With the New Year just about here, what are your goals and plans? How about spending more time with your loved ones?

We have found a few ways that will bring you closer together, build connection and just have fun!

1. Honor your family’s history.

Sitting down and cuddling with your kiddos no matter what their age is always a great time. Start by telling them something about your own childhood. Show them older photos of what you looked like at their age and share funny stories about yourself. You will be surprised at what they say!

Continue on with your parents, (their grandparents) and share more stories; ask questions and see what happens! Help your children understand their place in your family and your family's place in history by sharing photos and stories and having them respond. All of these things will help establish your families legacy and help them realize more of who they are.

3. Have a Sing a Long

Let everyone pick their favorite song and sing them all together as a family. Set up your camera, video the event and play it back later while enjoying your favorite dessert!

4. Tell Stories

Gather together while enjoying some hot cocoa and popcorn and tell a "story" about yourself. Is it real, or is it made up? Everyone needs to guess! Parents can share something about themselves that they did as a child-something positive, or perhaps a not so wise decision and see if the kids can guess if it is true. Kids can do the same and turn the tables on their parents!

4. Go Hiking

Whether you are all experienced hikers and are climbing mountains, or leisurely strolling through the woods, going on a hike together will draw you closer together and let your kids burn some energy. You can explore, bring home items to create with, and just enjoy being together.

5. Grow and Herb Garden

Gardening can be a lot of fun and growing your own herbs is a simple way to start. Your kids will love digging in the dirt, planting the seeds, and then seeing them come to life. Having their own plants to take care of will help them develop more responsibility, compassion and give them good things to eat!
