The New Season for Songs of Life
For a long time, when people heard the words, family photography, they probably pictured children with their mom and dad.
Maybe a young family walking hand in hand on the beach. Or a toddler in their parent's arms. Perhaps the beautiful busy years of raising children.
And while those photographs will always have a place in my heart and tell each family's story, they don't tell the whole story.
It doesn't begin when children arrive or end or when they grow up. The story begins much earlier.
It begins with two people who fell in love. Two people who decided to build a life together. It continues through pregnancy, the anticipation of a baby, those beautiful, chaotic years of childhood, then the beautiful years of becoming who we are.
The story keeps going, though. Our children become adults and leave home. They fall in love and have children of their own. The family grows. The people who came before become grandparents and great-grandparents.
Then, suddenly, when we step back, we can see that what we have been photographing all along isn't simply family life.
We've been photographing a story.

The growing years of raising adolescents and seeing them become the people they were created to be. And, finally, seeing how the family grows with grandparents and great grandparents.
