Alice in Wonderland

I used to be a theater geek. Yep. I was in several shows in high school and even danced my way through the musical, "No, No, Nanette." I took dance when I was younger-just a few classes-and thoroughly enjoyed it. As a junior in high school, I used to hop the train to the next town and walk over to a dance studio where they offered "adult" ballet and tap. As with the industry today, most of the classes were for younger ages.
And, being in high school and not having a whole lot of money, I used to jump on that train, then just stand in the vestibule by the door because the next stop was the next town over-just a 5 minute ride. I "pretended" that I had already been on the train for awhile, and was just waiting to get off as a lot of commuters did.

ahhh...yes. Not my best moments, but I really wanted to take dance and the only way to get to the studio was by train.

Fast forward to the present day. I still love dance-I LOVE watching World of Dance and So You Think You Can Dance, on television, and I love theater. I would not want to be IN theater anymore-I probably could not remember my lines, and I do not like being in front of everyone all that much, but I thoroughly enjoy watching it.

So, being able to photograph the young artists at YPAC's productions is a true joy. It not only brings back memories for me, but it gives me an opportunity to participate in helping all students have access to the arts. I had to figure everything out for myself back when I wanted to be a part of dance and theater, and I am hoping that these students do not have to do that. There are resources available so that ALL students can have access.

So, enjoy a few images from both casts of Alice in Wonderland and, if you believe in helping every student get access to the arts, just give YPAC a call and they can help you on your way!

All productions are held at the Community Christian Church in Plainfield, IL!
